Gender Equality means
Gender Equality is when people of all genders have equal rights, responsibilities and opportunities. ... Gender equality prevents violence against women and girls. It's essential for economic prosperity. Societies that value women and men as equal are safer and healthier. Gender equality is a human right.

Though some progress has been made in the area of gender equality (including equal access to primary education and boys and girls), but everywhere in the world, women and girls continue to suffer from discrimination and violence. There is strong need to strengthen the legal and regulatory framework, in order to combat the deep-rooted practice of gender discrimination
Gender equality means people of all genders should be given equal rights, opportunities and responsibilities. We all are affected by gender equality. It means equality in terms of access to opportunities, resources and economic participation and valuing different needs, aspirations and behaviors.
Male and
female employees holding same position receive different pay even if they have similar education
level, experience is an example of gender inequality.
The major
types of inequality in the society are gender inequality, gender inequality,
health care and social class.
Gender
equality has also been included in the SDG ( Sustainable development goals) of
United Nations. It is measured by the UNDP's HDR ( Human Development Report).
To eliminate
gender inequality we need to eliminate various harmful practices against girls,
women and LGBT community.
In the past,
men had more importance than women. only men could work, become a police
officer, work in the army, go to school, etc.
Women are still underrepresented in decision-making positions. Many
studies present that women occupy less than one-third of senior management
positions.

Providing
women and girls with equal access to education, health services, decent work
and participation in political and economic decision-making processes will help
to achieve economic sustainability and will benefit society and humanity as a
whole.
We can fund
education campaigns to curb cultural practices like female genital mutilation
and change harmful laws that limit the rights of women and girls and prevent
them from achieving their full potential.

The COVID-19
pandemic in 2020 also poses a challenge in achieving gender equality. The
impact of COVID-19 on women has been:[34]
Compounded
economic impacts particularly for women who are generally earning less, saving
less, and hold insecure jobs or living close to poverty.
The health of
women is adversely impacted through the reallocation of resources and
priorities, including sexual and reproductive health services.
Unpaid care
work has increased, with children out-of-school, heightened care needs of older
persons and overwhelmed health services.
Gender-based
violence has increased exponentially due to restricted movement and economic
strain. The lockdown has increased the cases of women and girls violence with
over 30% domestic violence increase.
Gender equality is important because it is related to the sustainable development and is important for realizing human rights for all.
The main objective of gender equality is to form a society in which men and women enjoy same obligation, rights and opportunitie.
To conclude, the struggle for gender equality has brought, brings and will bear fruit for the development and successful functioning of society.
